SeaHiker Joins HHWE: Driving Innovation in Offshore Wind
Monday, May 26, 2025

We are pleased to announce that SeaHiker has officially joined the Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) network. As a Dutch startup with a strong focus on technological innovation, SeaHiker is an exciting and forward-thinking addition to our growing community of offshore wind companies.

About SeaHiker

Based in the Netherlands, SeaHiker specializes in developing smart, practical, and scalable solutions to some of the offshore wind industry’s toughest challenges. By blending deep engineering expertise with a bold, entrepreneurial mindset, SeaHiker aims to help the sector achieve greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability, particularly in the rapidly evolving floating wind market.

The company’s approach is rooted in system thinking, design simplicity, and a relentless focus on cost-effectiveness. Rather than just optimizing current practices, SeaHiker sets out to rethink and reengineer core offshore wind operations.

Innovations That Make an Impact

SeaHiker is currently working on several promising technologies that could significantly enhance offshore wind operations, including:

  • Jack-up Leg Cushion System
A novel solution designed to improve jack-up operability in more challenging sea states. By providing dynamic damping and reducing impact forces, this system allows for safer and more flexible deployment of jack-up vessels — potentially expanding their usable weather windows.
  • Cost-Effective Mooring System for Floating Wind
SeaHiker is developing an innovative mooring concept that could reduce costs by up to 80% compared to conventional systems. This approach could make floating wind more commercially viable at scale by drastically lowering the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).
  • In-Situ Large Component Exchange System
Maintenance of floating turbines remains a major challenge. SeaHiker’s proposed solution would enable the replacement of large components (such as blades or gearboxes) at sea, eliminating the need to tow turbines back to port and thus reducing downtime and O&M costs.

These innovations are being developed with scalability and deployment simplicity in mind, aligning well with the global industry’s move toward cost reduction and operational efficiency. We are looking forward supporting their journey and to our new collaboration.
