Wednesday, June 21, 2017

A business delegation of Taiwanese offshore wind companies and financial institutes has visited the Netherlands from 12 till 14 June 2017. The mission was led by representatives from CIECA and the TWTIA. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen cooperation with Dutch marine engineering and wind power companies.

The three-days program consisted of a Joint Business Council meeting held at IHC IQIP office in Sliedrecht and a Round Table  at the head office of Boskalis in Papendrecht. During this meetings topics like finances, wind industrial policy, marine engineering, installation, O&M and certification were discussed. More than 30 Dutch companies were present at the meetings and joined the discussions.

On Tuesday 13th June the Taiwanese delegation was split up in two groups: a Wind Team and Marine Team. The Wind Team visited Knowledge Center WMC and the ECN Wind Turbine Test Site and had meetings with several Dutch engineering companies. The Marine Team visited the SIF production facility at the Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam and the Zaratan (GustoMSC-design vessel) in the Port of Amsterdam. On the last day Westermeer Wind was visited.

At the end of the mission Mr Matt Yang (MIRDC) stated that “Dutch companies have the marine knowledge Taiwan is looking for.” And according to Ms Peggy Lu (CIECA): “The Taiwanese delegation came back in Taiwan with a great experience in the Netherlands. However the visit has ended, this is the beginning for the companies of both sides to start the work of potential cooperation.”
