Introduction
Are you working in the offshore wind sector and looking for new business opportunities? Join the Trade Mission, organized by HHWE in collaboration with Municipality of Gorinchem and Netherlands Embassy in Seoul. We invite in particular offshore wind installation and offshore wind O&M related companies to join us.

UPDATE: Bayards, GustoMSC, Huisman Equipment, SIF, VBMS/Boskalis, Wind Minds, MPI Offshore, TNO & Van Oord have already subscribed to join this mission.

Date: June 11 – June 16
In one week you will meet important stakeholders in the Korean offshore energy industry. You will be introduced to government officials, developers & contractors and other companies active in the Korean offshore energy supply chain. The mission of HHWE is part of a larger trade mission organized by the Municipality of Gorinchem. This city has a special relationship with Korea due to the astonishing story of Hendrick Hamel (1630 – 1692), who survived a deadly shipwreck on Jeju Island in 1653. The larger trade mission will be led by former Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende.

Why Korea?
Due to the efforts of the Netherlands Embassy in Seoul and HHWE over the last four years, Dutch companies have a preferential position in Korea. Korean Wind Power Energy Industry Association (KWEIA) visited the Netherlands in 2014 and 2016 with large delegations. This mission in June can be seen as a return visit, partly hosted by KWEIA.

As a result of the Paris convention the ambitions of the Korean government regarding renewable energy has changed. Former President Park has summoned her administration to work seriously on renewable energy targets. Energy consumption per capita is very high and currently nearly all energy sources are imported. Offshore energy targets are still unclear, but it is difficult to imagine that the potential of the sea will not be utilized sooner or later. On Jeju the plans are more clearly developed, especially regarding offshore wind. The government of the Island plans to build six offshore wind farms by 2022 to meet the 100 percent clean energy goal by 2030 set out in the ‘Carbon-Free Island Jeju by 2030’ plan. The 30MW Tamra project will be the first project to be fully commissioned.

Costs mission
HHWE members can participate at a fee of EUR 1.250 (excluding flight ticket and hotel costs). For non-HHWE members the fee is EUR 1.750 (excluding flight ticket and hotel costs).
