Japan is charging ahead with ambitious offshore wind energy targets: an impressive 30-45GW by 2040, including groundbreaking floating wind technologies. These goals are a cornerstone of Japan’s strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. To make these plans a reality, Japan is actively seeking international expertise – opening the door to remarkable opportunities for Dutch wind energy companies to play a pivotal role.

The Netherlands is widely regarded in Japan as a trusted and innovative partner in offshore wind. Since 2014, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE), with support from the Dutch government, has cultivated an extensive network across the Japanese wind energy sector, building a strong foundation for collaboration.

With growing market activity and recent developments, such as advancements in floating offshore wind technology and new regulatory frameworks supporting renewable energy investments in Japan, the time is now for the Dutch wind sector to strenghten its presence.

To seize this momentum, HHWE, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tokyo and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), will again host the Netherlands Lounge at the Wind Expo Tokyo, taking place from March 17 – 19, 2026, in Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo Japan. This platform will showcase Dutch expertise, facilitate high-level networking, and further position the Netherlands as a key player inJapan’s offshore wind market.

Netherlands Lounge

We will set up a joint Netherlands Lounge, in which every participant will get individual exposure as well. The total floor area of the Lounge will be around 100sqm, located at a central spot of the WET exhibition floor, and can accommodate up to 24 companies.

The following services are included:

• fully equipped joint Netherlands booth with customized branding;
• own poster desk for each participating company (poster dimensions around 950mm W x 1730mm H), with space for company brochures;
• expore of company logo within the Lounge design;
• shared TV screen for corporate video (max. 1,5 min.) OR PowerPoint Presentation (max. 6 slides) in the Lounge;
• hosting support on site from HHWE, NL Embassy and interpreters;
• support in arranging individual meetings with Japanese stakeholders;
• hotel and flight recommendation;
• participation in the JP – NL side event, one day prior to the exhibition;
• drinks & snacks in the Lounge; and
• joint promotion.
