NL & US K2K Roundtable at IPF 2025
Steel, Wind and Water: Innovative Geotech and Building With Nature Approaches for Offshore Foundation Design and Development
During the International Partnering Forum (IPF) Conference & Exhibition, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE), together with the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York, in partnership with The Rich North Sea and Fugro organize a Knowledge to Knowledge session on the topic of: “Innovative Geotech and Building With Nature Approaches for Offshore Foundation Design and Development” on Wednesday April 30, 2025, 11:30am – 01:00pm EST.
How can upscaling of offshore wind be integrated with other economic uses, including shipping, fishing, oil and gas, aquaculture, military, recreation, and conservation? On the current trend, marine industrialization proceeds while conservation and restoration goals for marine ecosystems are poorly met. What are synergies of offshore wind and nature that support sustainable use and thriving seas? What kind of assets can support this and how can they be effectively implemented and monitored over their lifespan? There are many players in the ecosystems of the USA and the Netherlands who are helping to advance these best practices.
(Preliminary) Agenda
The round table will be kicked-off by two keynote speakers. After these keynotes, the table will be open for a moderated discussion on the topic.
The discussions during the Roundtable event will focus primarily on geotech and surface aspects of the seabed, featuring experts from the Virginia-, Cheseapeake Bay, and University-area ecosystems, as well as engineers, scientists and stakeholders with experience in nature inclusive offshore windfarms from the Netherlands.
- Opening by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York
- Keynote 1: presentation of the Dutch examples by Christiaan van Sluis from The Rich North Sea and Fugro
- Keynote 2: Environmental monitoring – balancing & offshore wind and nature restoration in the US
- Moderated discussion
