The 5th Int’l Wind Energy Expo & Conference was held in Tokyo on 1-3 March 2017. The Holland Home of Wind Energy Pavilion was an ideal place for GustoMSC, Huisman, Independent eXperts, Mega Windforce, Royal IHC, SBM Offshore, Trelleborg Ridderkerk, VBMS, VDL Klima and Vryhof Anchors to meet existing and new clients. During several seminars with the Japan Wind Powers Association the Dutch companies presented themselves with innovative designs and products.

Many Japanese visitors also visited the Holland Lounge to try Windplanner, a revolutionary new web application to visualize wind projects by yourself online and very easy. Also Sif Group and their Japanese partner Sata Tekko jointly presented themselves at the trade fair with a large stand. Both companies aim to cooperate in the the field of monopiles and transition pieces for offshore windfarms.

A big Dutch success story in Japan is offshore design company GustoMSC. The company has created the design for a multipurpose self-elevating platform for Japan’s Penta-Ocean. The jack-up vessel will be able to install wind turbines on the seabed in a single day under normal weather and sea conditions. Dutch heavy construction maker Huisman Equipment will build the platform’s Pedestal Mounted Crane. The system will be constructed by Japan Marine United Corporation and is also designed for operations in Japan’s Greater Coasting Area and for becoming a shallower draft vessel.
