From 26-28 Feb, 2014, HHWE participated as exhibitor in the 2nd Wind Expo Japan which was held succesfully in Tokyo. In total 6 HHWE PIB members were present: Damen Shipyards, ECN, GustoMSC, Mecal, Trelleborg Ridderkerk and VDL Klima.
The Wind Expo is part of the World Smart Energy week which is held since 2004 and which has grown into the largest amart energy exhibition in Japan with over 1500 exhibitors of which over 160 exhibitors specific related to Wind Energy. Over the 3 exhibitions days more than 67.000 people visited the exhibition of which 14.000 attended the conferences held.
For most of the HHWE members it was very successful and often the Holland Pavilion booth was crowded with visitors with who serious business talks took place. Also the almost continuous presence of the embassy staff including the activities of the Dutch ambassador to Japan, mr. Radinck van Vollenhoven, who participated in several exhibition events on the first day, assisted to promote the serious interest of the Dutch Wind Energy sector for the Japanese market. This was further supported by the Japanese press who highlighted the participation of HHWE in the Holland Pavilion on Japanese NHK television and in several newspapers / magazines.
Based on the success of the exhibition HHWE has already decided to participate in the 3rd edition of the Wind Expo held from 25-27 Feb, 2015 in Tokyo. For details please see here.
On the side-line of the exhibition a high level meeting was held with the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and three HHWE members (ECN, GustoMSC and Mecal), which was organized by the embassy, who also attended the meeting, to inform, exchange ideas and discuss possible cooperation between the Netherlands and Japan related to wind energy.
