Dutch celebrate Global Wind Day with Wind & Water Works launch

June 15, 2021 – To celebrate Global Wind Day, the Dutch wind industry and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) have joined forces to launch the wind & water works website (www.windandwaterworks.nl). Manager by the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NWEA) on behalf of the Government and a coalition of Dutch wind energy and trade associations, wind & water works is a one-stop offshore wind information portal for international stakeholders. Featuring latest offshore wind news, project showcases, and vital business links, the website aims to share Dutch expertise and is packed with information to help other countries successfully develop their offshore wind markets.

The Netherlands is home to some of most successful and innovative offshore wind policy initiatives, businesses, maritime companies, and research institutes in the world. With 4.5. GW capacity installed and under development today, the Dutch Offshore Wind Roadmap plans for 11 GW operational offshore wind power in 2030, with that due to rise significantly under plans for a new roadmap to 2040. These ambitious goals enable the Netherlands to maintain its position in the Top 3 of largest offshore wind countries in Europe.

Daniëlle Veldman, Wind & Water Works Project Coordinator, said: ‘As the world celebrates Global Wind Day, the Dutch are doing their part to ensure offshore wind grows globally. The Dutch supply chain is a strong one with global reach and it’s here to help other countries develop their own offshore wind industry with confidence. Through this Wind & Water Works gateway, our aim is to share our expertise and forge strong international partnerships to ensure the successful development of the offshore wind sector around the world.

Meanwhile, Wind & Water Works also provides news and updates on export opportunities for Dutch companies hoping to increase their international activities. Dutch presence at international events and trade missions as well as public-private partnerships aimed at enhancing international trade (PIB) are all featured. Company profiles and business links are also included under the Partners section of the website. More than 40 companies from across the Dutch wind industry have joined Wind & Water Works as a partner already.

Veldman said: ‘This is just the beginning. We will continue to welcome additional partners and add new insights and information across the website as the Wind & Water Works campaign gathers momentum. These are exciting times for global offshhore wind development and the Dutch industry is looking forward to helping drive the market forward.

The Wind and Water Works portal has been established in cooperation with the Dutch Government, represented by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and branch organisations active in the wind energy sector (NWEAIROHHWE, and NMT). Dutch wind energy companies can become a wind & water works partner free of charge up  to April 2022.
