Monday, June 11, 2018

June 11, 2018 – A delegation led by the Taiwanese Director General from Bureau of Energy (BoE), Lin Chuan-Neng, has paid The Netherlands offshore industry a visit since Wednesday June 6th. The delegation comprised representatives from BoE, MIRDC, ITRI, Taipower, Taiwan International Ports Corp. Ltd and other key players in offshore wind in Taiwan.

The delegation has visited Eemshaven, Dutch Transmission System Operator TenneT and The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). One of the highlights of the visit was the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RVO and BoE in the field of renewable energy. Since the signing of the original MoU in September 2015, offshore wind has been the most important topic of cooperation.

As a result of the successful cooperation, export association Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) installed a special liaison officer in Taipei, Ms Jennifer Chien, to support a cluster of Dutch offshore wind companies. For the next three years HHWE will be supported by the Dutch government in the framework of the Partners for International Business program. The ambition of this program is to set-up partnerships between Dutch and Taiwanese companies in offshore wind.

Facts:
•             Taiwan will install 5,5 GW offshore wind by 2025.
•             Taiwan has been recognized and evaluated by the international organization 4C Offshore as having the best offshore wind resource in the  world.
