In the past two weeks, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) organized two succesful exhibition participations with a NL Netherlands Lounge in Japan and Taiwan. For us in the Netherlands, it might be odd to see physical events proceed as scheduled in Asian countries, but we learnt that participation in hybrid exhibition is definitely recommended during the COVID-19 pandemic, in order for Dutch companies to expand their network and to gain exposure on foreign markets, now traveling is not possible:
Wind Expo Tokyo, Japan
From 3-5 March, 2021, the Smart Energy Week in Japan took place, of which the Wind Expo Tokyo is part. During this exhibition, HHWE organized a NL Netherlands Lounge at both the physical exhibition and the virtual platform. With a total of 16 participants / co-exhibitors, and 28,000 physical visitors and even more virtual visitors, this event was very succesful and offered many network opportunities for our participants and the Dutch sector.
As part of the Japan program, HHWE, together with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tokyo, organized a Webinar on Japan & the Netherlands: Innovations and Developments in the Offshore Wind Sector. The Webinar attracted around 100 attendees from all over the Japanese and Dutch supply chain and offers attendees to receive contact information of all other participants, to establish new network relations. The Webinar was definitely informative, and included speakers from, among others, the Japan Wind Power Association, TKI Offshore Wind, Mitsubishi Corporation Power Systems, and Dutch-Japanese Maritime Desk (DujamDesk).
Given the fact the participation in a hybrid exhibition like this was experienced as successful by all of our participants, and the upcoming tenders and developments in the Japan offshore wind market, HHWE is considering participating again in the September edition of the Smart Energy Week / Wind Expo Tokyo. We are currently discussing the requirements of our participation with the Expo organizer and will publish more informatino on this event soon.

It was possible for the Dutch companies to visit the virtual exhibition, and to network with other exhibitors and visitors. In total 16 companies joined the NL Netherlands Lounge at this exhibition.
